HOURS: 40 hour program that includes:

  • 14.4 hours of online/ lab courses
  • 7.6 hours of instructor guided pre trip inspections
  • 18 hours behind the wheel.

OBJECTIVE: Help students that have been offered a driving position dependent upon them getting professional training and passing the CDL skills test.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Students that want to stay in a local job.

Haven’t been in a truck for a while? This course meets refresher demands for OTR carriers.

NOTE: All applicants will be contacted by a representative upon the scheduling of class. Walk-on students will be turned away as seating is very limited.

PROGRAM SYLLABUS

A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is available too current or former CDL Licensed drivers who have been trained on a manual 10-speed transmission wishing to
refresh their skills. It is also designed for students have trailer experience and have a local position waiting for them.

B. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Student is assigned online theory classes and given FMCSA study materials. Classroom and hands on. Instructor led one on one.

C. COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Class will cover pre-trip inspection, shifting techniques, left and right turns, backing in straight lines, backing in curved lines, parallel parking, alley docking, offset backing, coupling and ncoupling trailers, lane control, city driving, rural driving and interstate driving. An introduction to Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) requirements will also be covered. Student will be prepared as an entry level driver with basic road and maneuver skills. Have knowledge of logbooks and safety inspections.

2. Includes 14.4 hours of online/ lab courses, 7.6 hours of instructor led pre trip inspections and 18 hours behind the wheel.

D. COURSE TOPICS/UNITS AND DATES
*Online Coursework is completed prior to BTW on week one*

1. Week 1 Class will cover pre-trip inspection, shifting techniques, left and right turns, backing in straight lines, backing in curved lines, parallel parking, alley docking, offset backing, coupling and uncoupling trailers, lane control, city driving, rural driving and interstate driving.

2. Week 2 Class will prepare student for the final States CDL Exam.
